As structural engineers, we were appointed to deliver the full structural design for a new six-storey reinforced concrete residential building, comprising over 30 apartments. The project was constructed on the site of the former Old Marlborough House, which was demolished to allow for redevelopment.

Our responsibilities included the design of new foundations suitable for the ground conditions and the imposed loads of the new structure, ensuring stability and robustness in line with Eurocodes and Building Regulations. The superstructure was designed as a reinforced concrete frame, incorporating flat slabs, columns, and shear walls to provide strength, durability, and lateral stability against wind and horizontal actions.

The design was coordinated with the architectural layouts to optimise internal space and allow flexibility for residential fit-out. The result is a safe, efficient, and durable structure, capable of supporting a high-quality residential development for long-term use.
